The long-dreaded war between Britain and France has finally begun. French soldiers have landed on English soil and the British Army – and the Royal Sorcerers Corps, led by Lady Gwen – is moving to meet them. But when an inexperienced major disobeys her orders and sends two hundred hussars to their deaths, Gwen accidentally uses her magic to permanently damage his mind and sparks a political crisis at the worst possible time.
In the aftermath of the battle, Lord Mycroft suggests she leave Britain and head to the North American colonies, where British forces are anxiously awaiting a French offensive. The local sorcerers have been poisoned, the local government is barely keeping the colonies under control, the slaves are mutinous and revolution against the crown is brewing. The few locals with any known magical talent are untrained and certainly not ready for combat, but – if they can be trained in time – they may be all that stands between the colonies and defeat.
Accompanied by Irene Adler and Raechel Slater-Standish, agents of the British Crown, Gwen heads to North America. But it may be too late to save the colonies from a disaster that has been long in the making …
In ‘Sons of Liberty’, Gwen is sent from the relative safety of London to the colonies, where an undercurrent of revolution still abounds and intrigue and espionage are essential to keep the enemy at bay. But who exactly is the enemy? In the latest book in this exciting alternate history series, Christopher Nuttall expands Gwen’s horizons beyond Europe into the New World.

Christopher Nuttall has yet to write a book I haven't been totally inchantated with. My greatest fear is he will end one of hid many series and I'll bawl like a baby...not pretty in the over 50 crowd..Yes I know they are for younger readers...doesn't mean us old folks can't enjoy a alternate war where America is never free from England, or a girl that one day suddenly finfs an entire library dowloaded in her brain and becomes the new Librarian as connected to it asas lungs oxgenate blood, but blood needs the oxygen to move into the heart. A circle of symbiotic connection that leave one out the entire organism fails. All I can do is pray the King will still need his Lady of magic. That there is a HEA in her future. That the brain of the bookworm keeps expanding.. and his school of magic lives up to his great story telling. Books that can be read by soon to be tweens to grannies reading them can all enjoy. I would happily give him more stars if i could, and happily given his books as gifts.. Some of these are just enough in a parallel world that it make you think of history truth vs fiction and how close it came from being true..

Sons of Liberty Royal Sorceress Book 4 edition by Christopher Nuttall Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Very nice addition to the series. Lady Gwen helps defend London from a French invasion, and is sent to America to help defend from French attack. We have a America who lost the revolutionary war some forty years before and she must deal with a revival of the Sons of Liberty. It moves along much better then the last book, but the two story lines with Lady Gwen and Lady Rachael now training as a spy are uneven. The former is just more interesting then the later.
I pre-ordered this item. I discovered to my delight when it arrived, that I had not read the previous books in the series. The only thing better than one Nuttall book is four! As usual, Nuttall delights. I raced through the books, slowing on the last one - after all, how many more weeks will it be til the author has another out. I thoroughly enjoyed the series. I usually prefer spaceships and such, but this was a pleasant fantasy.
Well, other than the insult to all Americans that there's even a possibility that there could be an alternative history where the British won the American Revolutionary war and George Washington was hung instead of being one of the greatest heroes of all time (not only for winning the war, but for allowing/enabling smooth transition to the next president when his term was over), yes, other than that, it was very well written and entertaining and a nice end to a short but solid series with all the good guys living happily ever after as part of the never ending British Empire. -)
I found this to be a very entertaining story and continuation of the previous story line about the Royal Sorceress. An interesting story line in that George Washington was defeated in the American Revolution, and the current Sons of Liberty are chaffing at the restrictions placed on political developments and manufacturing in the Colonies. Will they back the Crown or join the French to throw Britain out of the colonies? There were several twists I did not see coming and I enjoyed that. I highly recommend this book.
An absolutely fantastic series and probably my favorite of Nuttall's. That being said this particular book leaves something to be desired. The development of the main character and the readers understanding of the political climate of the world is furthered during the plot, however the introduction of a boring side character that doesn't advance the arc of the story leaves this reader to be a tad dissapointed. That being said this book was still absolutely fantastic and would not hesitate to recommend this to a friend. I do so hope that Mr. Nuttall would expedite the next book in the series over another in the Ark or School series.
This was an odd addition to the series. It took some interesting turns and would make a good ending to this particular series of books. It nearly lost my interest at a point, but thanks to those aforementioned "interesting turns" was able to recapture me and finish strong.
All in all, it's not the best book I've read by Nuttall, but still worth reading if you've enjoyed the series so far.
I have read on his blog that he is planning another book in the Royal Sorceress series and I hope that in not a mistake. This series was great, but it just feels complete to me at this point.
I've read most of Chris Nuttall's e-books through including this series and have thoroughly enjoyed them. Sadly, I could not get into this particular book and will most likely discontinue reading the Royal Sorceress series. As a Napoleonic wars military buff, I was quite intrigued over the thought of using magic on a battlefield. Unfortunately the military aide to the sorceress seemed one dimensional and his order for a squadron of cavalry to charge a group of French magicians was regretfully predictable. Although I enjoyed seeing how the sorceress dealt with him, the author lost my interest after she was reprimanded and abruptly sent on a mission to Russia. I was really looking forward to reading more about the invasion of England and was quite disappointed with this plot twist.
